Although the new landmarks are located in the heart of the countryside, they are well-connected to the transportation network. Links to public transportation are ensured with bus line 20, which runs regularly between Lucerne’s main railway station and Horw. For individual transportation, the Allmend is quickly accessible via the Kriens south (Schlund) expressway junction located just 2.5 kilometres away. Furthermore, since end-2013 the Allmend has been well-connected through a subterranean central railway station situated nearly at the doorstep. The Allmend station optimises access to the trade fair, sports and events grounds as well as to HOCHZWEI. Hence, commuters can easily reach Lucerne’s main railway station. From Lucerne, the trip to Zurich today is just 50 minutes by train, or a roughly 45 minute drive by automobile (barring any traffic jams) thanks to the A4 via Knonaueramt, opened in 2009.
